Clean Air Task Force is founded
When we launched CATF in 1996, our strategy was simple: enact federal policy to force older coal plants to meet the same emission rates as new plants, thereby reducing the amount of harmful pollutants in the atmosphere.
We began as a small team of lawyers, scientists, and advocates based in Boston, Massachusetts, and have since grown over 25 years into a global nonprofit environmental organization that works to safeguard against the worst impacts of climate change. We do this by advocating for policies to reduce emissions, and by catalyzing the rapid development and deployment of low-carbon energy and other climate-protecting technologies — using research and analysis, public advocacy, and private sector engagement to achieve our goals.
