Co-Published Landmark Study on Need for Clean Firm Power

California’s landmark Clean Energy Standard, Senate Bill 100, was the first U.S. state policy to require zero emissions. CATF initiated a study with Stanford University, Princeton University, the Environmental Defense Fund, and noted energy analyst E3 to study how California could most cost-effectively achieve the goal at reasonable cost. The study concluded that California would need a substantial amount of always-available zero-carbon electricity to achieve the goal, making early commercialization of these technologies imperative.
