About the event
As expectations for corporate climate leadership evolve, businesses are increasingly being asked to demonstrate not only reductions in their own emissions but also their contributions to broader economic decarbonization, resilience, and sustainable development. Traditional emissions targets and reporting frameworks do not always capture these wider impacts, creating challenges for companies seeking to measure and communicate their contributions credibly.
Hosted by National Grid and Futerra, this roundtable will explore how businesses can move beyond conventional emissions accounting to evaluate the broader climate, economic, and social benefits of their activities. The discussion will consider the “spheres of influence” approach, including how companies can assess their contributions to enabling decarbonization, strengthening energy security, supporting communities, and creating economic opportunities.
Bringing together perspectives from business, sustainability, and climate policy, including Clean Air Task Force’s Lea Romm, the session will examine how organizations can communicate meaningful impact transparently, avoid greenwashing, and strengthen accountability for their role in the energy transition.
