Senior Scientist
About
David McCabe is a Senior Scientist on the Methane Pollution Prevention team at CATF. His work focuses on understanding methane emissions from various sectors, particularly the oil and gas industries, and engaging with industry, regulators, and researchers to better understand practices and technologies to reduce emissions. David has worked with numerous academic researchers to better characterize emissions of methane and other air pollutants from a number of oil and gas processes, and designed studies and analyses that examine the feasibility of specific technologies to reduce emissions, such as leak detection technologies for production and compression sites and alternatives to flaring of associated gas from oil plays. He has served as a peer reviewer for a number of academic journals and grant proposals for NASA and the U.S. Department of Energy, and has frequently served as an expert witness in regulatory hearings.
David has been with Clean Air Task Force since 2010. He received a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Colorado, and conducted post-doctoral studies at the California Institute of Technology.
