Next-Generation Geothermal at Scale

Technological advances have enabled geothermal energy development in far more locations than previously possible. Next-generation geothermal could deliver substantial reliable, carbon-free electricity across the globe, strengthening grid stability and supporting cost-effective decarbonization. While this opportunity has sparked interest from governments and policymakers, most initiatives have fallen short due to insufficient funding or regulatory reforms that miss critical barriers.

In this report series, Clean Air Task Force explores how U.S. states, the U.S. federal government, and global policymakers can accelerate next-generation geothermal deployment through targeted policy action.
