Health Risks in Arizona from Oil and Gas Air Pollution

While these pollutants cause health problems in states with oil and gas booms and intense activity, they also cause problems elsewhere, as air pollution travels across state borders. While Arizona has little oil and gas industry activity within its borders, most of its neighboring states have large numbers of oil and gas wells, compressors, and processing plants. Moreover, large portions of those sites are on federal and tribal land, where industry reports show that facilities are particularly highly polluting.
