Clean Air Task Force Comments to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Rescission of Climate-Related Disclosure Rules

Clean Air Task Force submitted comments urging the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to withdraw its proposal to rescind the Climate-Related Disclosure Rule. 

Our comments argue that the rule is well within the SEC’s authority, addresses financially material climate risks, and provides investors with the consistent, comparable information they need to make informed investment and voting decisions. We also emphasize why disclosure around corporate greenhouse gas emissions and carbon offset use is critical for assessing the credibility of companies’ climate claims.
