Prudence is a Senior Energy Economist with CATF’s Africa Energy and Climate Innovation Program. He leads policy-focused economic analysis on topics related to energy transitions, energy systems/markets, and development in Africa.

Prudence is a research economist with more than twelve years of policy-oriented research experience in the areas of energy, climate change, transport, and digital. He has worked on different aspects of the energy transition, including macroeconomics, household behavior, firm strategies, electricity market design, policy instruments, the economics of smart grid technologies, the financial viability of power utility, energy subsidies reform, and complementarity of energy with transport and digital sectors.

Before joining CATF, Prudence was a researcher at the University of Basel in Switzerland, where he mainly worked on endogeneous green technology transition and the design of conventional and non-conventional policy instruments. Prior to that, he was a research fellow at the World Bank. He has contributed to several projects at the World Bank and UNDP, including power trade in West Africa, regional energy policy in Central Africa, energy subsidies reforms, and Benin’s second national communication to the UNFCCC.

Prudence holds a P.h.D in economics from Savoie Mont Blanc University in France and a Master’s degree in environmental and resource economics from Toulouse School of Economics (TSE), France. He has a good publications record in top-field peer-reviewed academic journals, including The Energy Journal, Energy Economics, and Environmental and Resource Economics. Prudence also has teaching experience and has taught economics and climate change related courses for undergraduates and graduates at universities in Switzerland, France, Benin, and Cameroon.
