Mary Louks
Director, Events and Engagement
About
Mary brings over a decade of nonprofit experience specializing in events, marketing and strategic engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I). She joined CATF after nine years at The Nature Conservancy, where she spent her days creating event programs on and off the screen to inspire major gifts, increase access to nature, and foster community relations. During her tenure, she led engagement efforts for the chapter’s $100 million “It’s In Our Nature” campaign and chaired the division’s creation of its first DE&I strategic plan and committee. Prior, Mary spent four years at the Federation of Women’s Clubs, managing conventions in several U.S. states, including the launch of Success for Survivors, a grant program for higher education for those impacted by domestic violence. In college, she interned at OutFront Kalamazoo, where she built a fundraising awards program for LGBTQ+ advocacy and worked on the successful 1856 anti-discrimination ordinance.
Mary is a graduate of Western Michigan University, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in sociology and gender studies and a Crisis Communications certificate from Gryphon Place. She is active in her community as President of The Equity Taskforce of Mason Public Schools and a Woldumar Nature Center board member. She enjoys being a mom to her elementary-aged daughter, spending time on the Great Lakes, getting lost in a good book, and overly adoring her ginger cat.
