Jeff Hammons

Jeff Hammons joined CATF as an Attorney in April 2026, bringing extensive experience in environmental litigation and regulatory defense. Prior to CATF, Jeff spent several years at the U.S. Department of Justice defending federal environmental agencies, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, in federal courts of appeals and district courts. His work focused heavily on Clean Air Act litigation, including cases involving ozone standards and national emissions standards for hazardous air pollutants.

Earlier in his career, Jeff worked at the Environmental Law & Policy Center, where he litigated Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act enforcement cases against large industrial facilities such as power plants, steel mills, and oil refineries. He has also supported the work of state attorneys general through the State Energy & Environmental Impact Center.

Jeff holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School and a B.A in (1) African and African American Studies and (2) Philosophy from the University of Kansas.
