About

Alessia Virone joined CATF Brussels team in 2021 and is the Government Affairs Director, Europe at CATF. She is in charge of EU policies and advocacy. She promotes at the EU level science-based climate and energy policies aiming at reducing emissions. Among others, she provides advice on CATF’s work with the EU institutions on methane, hydrogen, and carbon capture and storage.

Prior to CATF, Alessia has been working on EU affairs and sustainability for 7 years. She worked before for Hanover Communications, an international consultancy, as a Sustainability and Trade Consultant. While at Hanover, she had the opportunity to work on a broad range of policies related to climate and energy, and had both companies and NGOs as clients.

Previously, she worked for Eurogroup for Animals, a Brussels-based NGO advocating on animal protection. As a Political Officer there, she focused on advocacy and had a tangible impact on many policy initiatives, closely collaborating with the three main EU institutions and with other NGOs. Before that, she worked in research on EU policies and in other NGOs promoting sustainability. She also did a traineeship at the EU Delegation to China in the Science, technology, and environment team.

She has a master degree in Political sciences and an additional master in EU Studies.
