About the event
Geothermal energy offers significant opportunities to expand reliable, low-carbon electricity, strengthen energy security, and diversify national energy portfolios. Despite advances in drilling and geothermal technologies, deployment remains constrained by high upfront costs, project development risks, limited subsurface data, and regulatory and infrastructure challenges.
Hosted by Clean Air Task Force, this press conference will feature Terra Rogers alongside senior government representatives from leading geothermal nations to explore opportunities for strengthening international cooperation and accelerating geothermal deployment. Building on recent partnerships, including the New Zealand–Iceland geothermal cooperation agreement, the discussion will highlight practical policy measures to attract investment, overcome development barriers, and scale geothermal deployment through continued international collaboration.
