About the event
Reducing methane emissions is one of the most effective ways to limit global warming and advance the goals of the Paris Agreement. Aligned with the food security priorities of the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference, this panel will explore how science, supportive policies, collaboration, and corporate action can reduce methane emissions from beef cattle while advancing food security, supporting rural livelihoods, and achieving climate goals.
Co-hosted by Clean Air Task Force, Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Environmental Defense Fund, Climate and Clean Air Coalition, and Food and Land Use Coalition, the discussion will bring together perspectives from government, research, industry, and civil society to explore how coordinated action can deliver measurable results.
The panel will draw on two global Plans to Accelerate Solutions: Resilient Agriculture Investment for Net Zero Land Degradation (RAIZ), involving Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and the Food and Land Use Coalition; and Integrating Agricultural Development and Methane Mitigation, supported by Clean Air Task Force, the Climate and Clean Air Coalition, and Environmental Defense Fund. Together, these initiatives demonstrate opportunities to advance agricultural productivity, climate mitigation, and sustainable land management.
