Mexico, like other countries in the Latin American and Caribbean region, faces the enormous task of achieving adequate management of municipal solid waste (MSW) generated in its territory. In this region, Mexico is the second largest MSW generator after Brazil. In 2022, Mexico generated a total of 47 million metric tons of waste.
