This role blends strategic financial analysis, investor engagement, and industry coordination to catalyze private and public investment in next-generation geothermal projects.
The primary goal of this position is to create and execute a multi-year strategy to attract new investment into the geothermal industry—mobilizing stakeholders across oil and gas, industrial offtakers, venture and private capital, and multilateral finance institutions. The overall objective of the SHR program will be to develop the technology and associated ecosystems to get to the position where it can be a potentially significant option in providing zero-carbon energy at large scale to the global energy system.
Senior Manager, Strategic Finance Role:

Key Functions and Responsibilities:
The Strategic Finance Manager role responsibilities will include, but is not limited to:

- Working with SHR Program Director on strategic planning, vision development, and execution of the SHR Program. This includes, but is not limited to, stakeholder education and global network development.

- Broadly leading efforts on technology, economics, and market analysis and strategy

- Developing content such as analyses and reports; policy recommendations; articles, blogs and other content; commercial strategy recommendations, etc.

- Financial assessments relating to early commercial project development
Strategic Industry and Investor Engagement

- Develop and implement an engagement strategy with existing energy industry and stakeholders including, but not limited to, oil and gas (O&G) majors, service companies, mining, and industrial offtakers.

- Analyze comparative economic returns for the purpose of setting programmatic strategy and communicating technology and market solutions across a spectrum of comparable energy solutions. This analysis includes internal rate of return (IRR), levelized cost of energy (LCOE), and investment timelines.

- Build clear, data-driven narratives that position next generation geothermal and superhot geothermal as a logical and profitable diversification path for current energy investors.

- Support creation of online tools, reports and materials comparing economic performance by temperature and depth versus analogs in other energy sectors..

- Represent CATF’s SHR program in meetings, workshops, and investor discussions, preparing briefing materials and follow-up documentation.
Financial Modeling and Scenario Analysis

- Develop robust, transparent financial models to inform investment strategies and policy recommendations.

- Lead development of a multi-stage, multi-investor financial model, generating stakeholder-specific outputs aligned with different investment phases.

- Produce clear industry reporting KPIs on capital costs, operating expenses, IRR, and key sensitivities across scenarios.
Investor and Ecosystem Development

- Support CATF’s investor and technology working group(s). This includes products and responsibilities such as:

- Produce concise, visually engaging one-page “cut sheets” by summarizing key insights for quarterly meetings.

- Coordinate logistics, invitation lists, speaker preparation, and follow-up materials.

- Develop the concepts, agendas, and outreach plans for convenings, including session design, speaker recruitment, and tailored materials for financial audiences.
Strategic Planning and Program Execution

- Work directly with the SHR Program Director to execute long-term strategic priorities, including global partnership development and technical project coordination.

- Contribute to the design and implementation of early-stage project development frameworks and stakeholder education efforts.

- Lead or oversee targeted analyses on technology, economics, and market readiness; identify technical gaps and commercialization barriers.

- Support funding strategy in collaboration with CATF’s development team, including proposal inputs, investor outreach, and reporting materials.
Skills/Qualifications:

- Advanced degree, Masters or higher, relating to business, energy systems and energy policy along with relevant successful professional experience in government, industry, and/or civil society organizations. A bachelor’s degree will be considered for candidates with 8+ years of highly relevant experience in comparable roles.

- 8 to 10 years of expertise in business development, policy development, or technology development.

- Familiarity with, or experience in, energy markets, the geothermal industry, and/or oil and gas industry landscapes.

- Capable of working and collaborating in a virtual office environment; willingness to travel extensively.

- Entrepreneurial and self-starting/self-management approach to work requiring minimal supervision.

COMPENSATION AND LOCATION:
This is a full-time, remote position with periodic travel as needed. CATF offers an excellent benefits package (details available on our careers page) and an annual salary range of $115,890–$160,000, depending on experience.
