Clean Air Task Force recognized among world’s most effective climate organizations for seventh consecutive year
Giving Green renews its recommendation of CATF, citing its record of evidence-based advocacy, policy impact, and progress across a broad portfolio of climate solutions
BOSTON — Clean Air Task Force (CATF) has been recognized by independent evaluators as one of the world’s most effective climate organizations for the seventh consecutive year, underscoring its record of advancing pragmatic, high-impact solutions to reduce emissions and address complex climate and energy challenges.
In its newly released 2026–2027 Top Climate Nonprofits list, Giving Green announced $40.5 million in grants to high-impact climate organizations, including CATF. Giving Green has recommended CATF annually since 2020, recognizing its ability to translate rigorous technical analysis, policy research, and strategic engagement with decision-makers into measurable progress on climate change.
The latest recommendation comes as CATF launches CATF Forward, a sharpened strategy to accelerate global climate progress through 2030 and beyond. Building on 30 years of experience advancing durable climate solutions, CATF Forward focuses on three interconnected priorities: preventing pollution, advancing clean power, and transforming complex systems. The strategy reflects CATF’s global approach to tackling immediate emissions while accelerating the innovation and deployment of technologies needed for long-term progress.
Giving Green’s latest assessment highlights CATF’s ability to adapt to changing political, technological, and economic conditions while maintaining a focus on impact. Its work spans reducing methane emissions and other harmful pollutants, advancing reliable and affordable clean power – including nuclear, fusion, and superhot rock geothermal energy – and developing solutions to decarbonize complex sectors such as aviation, shipping, and heavy industry.
Giving Green’s report said:
We think CATF’s combination of technical research, policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and technical assistance gives it several paths to impact. It could use additional funding to sustain its existing programs, develop new program areas, and expand geographically. We believe CATF’s pragmatic, results-driven approach, policy expertise, and proven track record position it well to continue making progress in global climate policy.
CATF’s recognition extends beyond Giving Green. Founders Pledge has also repeatedly identified CATF as one of the most effective climate organizations globally, highlighting its role in expanding the range of viable climate solutions and advancing evidence-based strategies to reduce emissions. CATF also maintains the highest possible four-star rating from Charity Navigator.
“Being recognized for the seventh year in a row reinforces the importance of an evidence-based approach built around results, rigorous analysis, and solutions that can work across different political and economic contexts,” said Armond Cohen, Executive Director of CATF. “The climate challenge is increasingly complex and enmeshed in major economic, geopolitical, and fiscal disruptions and constraints. Through CATF Forward, we’re bringing our work into sharper focus: accelerating solutions that can deliver results today while jumpstarting the next generation of technologies, policies, and practices that will be needed for the future. We’re grateful that independent evaluators continue to recognize the impact of this work.”
For 30 years, CATF has worked to advance climate solutions through independent technical expertise, pragmatic policy advocacy, and a commitment to innovation. CATF Forward builds on that foundation, connecting solutions across sectors and regions to accelerate their adoption globally and help deliver a healthy climate and thriving planet.
