Louisiana Clean Hydrogen Task Force charts a path to lead the emerging clean hydrogen economy
Today, the Louisiana Clean Hydrogen Task Force voted to adopt its report outlining practical, technically grounded policy recommendations to strengthen and expand the state’s leadership in the clean hydrogen economy.
“Clean hydrogen is a vital tool for Louisiana to continue its global energy leadership, bolster its economy and workforce, and improve air quality,” said Lindsay Cooper Phillips, Senior Gulf Coast Regional Manager at Clean Air Task Force (CATF). “The Louisiana Clean Hydrogen Task Force’s report provides a strong framework for ensuring our state’s leadership role with clean hydrogen innovation and market creation. The report identifies important policy opportunities by calling for a state-level economic development action plan, integrating carbon capture and sequestration in the clean hydrogen strategy, strengthening regulatory capacity, and adopting clear definitions, protocols, and measurements for clean hydrogen. CATF looks forward to working with the state, industry, and other stakeholders to advance key task force recommendations.”
CATF was appointed to the Clean Hydrogen Task Force in 2024. The task force met for eighteen months to develop strategies and policies to enable and advance clean hydrogen in the state. The recommendations in this report span leadership, economic development, and regulatory alignment categories.
