CATF named most effective climate organization for the sixth year in a row

November 25, 2025

BOSTON — Clean Air Task Force has once again been recognized by leading independent evaluators as one of the most effective climate organizations in the world—marking the sixth straight year CATF has earned top rankings for its impact, rigor, and results.

In its newly released 2025-2026 Top Climate Nonprofits list, Giving Green announced $26 million in grants to high-impact climate organizations, including $4 million over two years to CATF, citing CATF’s track record of driving measurable climate progress. Giving Green has recommended CATF every year since 2020, citing the organization’s comprehensive approach to climate mitigation, spanning technical analysis, stakeholder engagement, and policy research and education in the U.S. and Europe.

Giving Green’s latest recommendation highlights CATF’s continued leadership across a diverse set of climate solutions, including power sector decarbonization, superhot rock geothermal energy, and decarbonizing hard-to-abate-sectors such as aviation and shipping.

Giving Green’s report said:

We have been impressed by CATF’s technical analysis, stakeholder engagement, and policy research and education. CATF has decades of experience influencing U.S. policy, while remaining agile in its focus areas to ensure impact is continuously maximized across changing technological and policy landscapes. CATF has played a substantial role in securing key historic climate policies, including wins in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the Global Methane Pledge. It continues to adapt its strategies to current social and political conditions, most recently by launching a program to accelerate deep decarbonization of the electricity system. The program promotes practical solutions with bipartisan support, such as advancing clean firm technologies and streamlining regulations for faster clean energy deployment.

CATF has also historically been recognized by Founders Pledge, which—alongside Giving Green—has repeatedly named CATF one of the most effective climate organizations globally. Both organizations emphasize CATF’s unique role in expanding the global climate solutions portfolio and advancing pragmatic, evidence-based strategies to cut emissions. CATF also continues to hold the highest possible 4-star rating from Charity Navigator.

“Receiving this recognition for the sixth year in a row is a testament not only to CATF’s impact, but to the strength of a pragmatic model that holds up despite global geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, and political headwinds,” said Armond Cohen, Executive Director at CATF. “The climate landscape today looks very different than it did a year ago, yet our mission has stayed the same: advance climate solutions that work in the real world, across diverse economies and political contexts. That means pairing near-term action-like curbing methane emissions- with long-term investments in innovation to expand the full suite of climate solutions, while aligning those actions with economic and development priorities. We’re proud that independent evaluators and our community of supporters continue to recognize CATF’s ability to deliver durable progress.”
