CATF Statement: Xcel Energy Aims for Zero-Carbon Electricity by 2050

December 5, 2018 Work Area: Energy Access

Xcel Energy’s carbon reduction goals are the right targets at the right time and put the company in a leadership class by itself. We know that we need to virtually eliminate carbon emissions by mid-century to manage climate change, and the power grid will need to lead that effort.

Figuring out how to achieve these targets at an affordable cost will be a challenge but can be done with the right technology and policy mix. Xcel Energy’s commitment to work with others to achieve that mix can provide a global model.
