Über die Veranstaltung
As countries progress on their decarbonization journey and gradually phase out fossil dispatchable capacity, the importance of new clean firm generation comes into focus. System studies indicate that reliable, low-cost, and decarbonized power systems are likely to be a mix of weather dependent renewables, balancing technologies such as storage and demand response, and clean firm generators. However, the deployment of the last category is lagging due to governments mainly pursuing renewable content targets. This imbalance is likely to delay decarbonization as power systems will encounter a dispatchability gap and will be forced to retain fossil capacities.
Join us to discuss the importance of clean firm technologies, such as nuclear energy and superhot rock geothermal, in achieving deep decarbonization without overreliance on gas.
