Über die Veranstaltung

Deploying carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects will be essential if Poland is to meet its climate targets and secure the competitiveness of its industrial sectors. Furthermore, the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA) has placed an obligation on Poland’s oil and gas producers to develop CO2 storage capacity. While the EU’s carbon price will increasingly drive industrial decarbonisation, a funding gap currently exists, which hinders the development of viable business cases for these projects.

While Carbon Contracts for Difference (CCfD) are being developed in front-runner countries like Denmark, the UK, and the Netherlands, Poland and the wider Central and Eastern European (CEE) region face challenges due to limited available funds. Building a workable business case that capitalises on EU funding opportunities and leverages national funding will be required to get the first set of crucial projects built.

This webinar will explore the funding gap for carbon capture and storage projects in Poland and discuss the need for increased efforts to build business models for projects that access EU funding and combine with national funding to get projects built in the country. Experts will highlight actionable recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders at a time when countries in the region are increasingly focusing on carbon capture and storage through national carbon management strategies or obligations under the Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA).
