Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is a nonprofit organization working to safeguard against the worst impacts of climate change by catalyzing the rapid global development and deployment of low-carbon energy and other climate-protecting technologies. This is accomplished through research and analysis, public advocacy leadership, and partnership with the private sector. CATF is highly respected for its deep expertise and research on energy and industrial systems and potential strategies, technologies, and policies that can radically shrink their impact on the planet’s atmosphere. Our team of 150+ experts and advocates (and global network of subject matter experts and civil society partners) put this research and knowledge into action by designing and enacting public policies that drive toward zero emissions. We also support policies and work directly with private industry to innovate in technology to make the path to zero emissions swift and affordable. CATF has offices in Boston, Washington D.C., and Brussels, with staff working virtually around the world.

ROLE

The role of the Program Manager is to collaborate with the Senior Program Manager and other program staff to support a range of strategies to drive down global methane emissions. CATF’s Methane Pollution Prevention (MPP) team leverages partnerships to drive cross-cutting action through policy, markets, and the private sector at the regional, national, and subnational levels. The Program Manager will lead and support a wide range of programmatic activities including coalition building, fundraising, project management, direct decision-maker advocacy, strategic communications, and collaboration with leading global stakeholders.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Strategy development and implementation:
    • Assess global and regional strategies and regularly evaluate resourcing needs to identify gaps and opportunities.
    • Support senior program staff in organizing and executing effective meetings internally and externally including scheduling, agenda and materials preparation, and capturing outcomes and next steps.
    • Track progress against key performance indicators and deliverables.
  • Management and operational support:
    • Manage the development of technical and policy materials needed for all phases of fundraising efforts, including drafting and reviewing of communications, proposals, and reports.
    • Develop and review detailed budget breakdowns and spend allocation plans to inform grant proposals and budgeting process.
    • Oversee contract procurement and consultant management.
  • Collaboration:
    • Spearhead special projects and events, such as workshops and roundtables.
    • Coordinate internal cross-programmatic engagement with CATF colleagues, synthesize learnings from various regions, and best practices.
  • Communications:
    • Synthesize detailed documents and meeting notes into slide presentations, talking points, updates for the CATF Board of Directors, and other program communications.
    • Manage materials vetting, ensuring sign-off by relevant technical, legal, and policy experts.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related.
  • 5+ years of project and/or program management experience in a related environmental field.
  • Experience in line management and/or mentorship of entry-level staff.
  • Subject matter expertise in methane mitigation preferred, but candidates without are encouraged to apply.
  • Proven skills and experience working in a global team, managing projects with tight deadlines in a collaborative way.
  • Self-starter who enjoys taking initiative and helping others.
  • Consistent follow-through, strong organizational skills, and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Successful lobbying/advocacy experience a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, including comfort with the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, and Salesforce.
  • Excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of working and collaborating in a virtual office environment; willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Passion for CATF’s mission.

Compensation and Location: 

This is a full-time, funding-dependent position with a starting salary of $95,000 – $110,000 USD commensurate with experience. CATF offers an excellent benefits package. The location for this position is flexible with the eastern time zone (UTC-05:00) preferred. If the new hire resides in the United States, they will be a full-time employee for CATF. If the new hire resides outside the United States, they will be a full-time consultant, and receive benefits through a third-party organization.
