Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is a nonprofit organization working to safeguard against the worst impacts of climate change by catalyzing the rapid global development and deployment of low-carbon energy and other climate-protecting technologies. This is accomplished through research and analysis, public advocacy leadership, and partnership with the private sector. CATF is highly respected for its deep expertise and research on energy and industrial systems and potential strategies, technologies, and policies that can radically shrink their impact on the planet’s atmosphere. Our team of experts and advocates (and global network of subject matter experts and civil society partners) put this research and knowledge into action by designing and enacting public policies that drive toward zero emissions. We also support policies and work directly with private industry to innovate in technology to make the path to zero emissions swift and affordable. CATF has offices in Boston, Washington D.C., and Brussels, with staff working virtually around the world.


The Development Associate will be responsible for organizing and implementing fundraising support activities, including maintenance of the donor database systems; processing all gift revenues; logging gifts and coding gift records; providing historical giving, queries, and reports in support of fundraising goals and objects; and the prompt processing and filing of donor acknowledgements.

They must be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational and communication skills, and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. They will cultivate and nurture relationships with all staff responsible for fundraising and will be part of a team to design and implement a donor-centric strategy to increase annual and multi-year revenue from individuals and family offices, principally through major gifts, and to develop new funding opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a strong insight into the nonprofit sector and fundraising best practices.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Enters all gifts, pledges, pledge payments, and other financial transactions in the Salesforce database with timeliness, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Processes payment types including checks, cash, credit cards, wire transfers, stock, payroll deductions, matching gifts, in-kind donations, and internal transfers.
  • Reconciles all entries with daily transmittals and prepares them for daily deposit.
  • Ensures that contributions are entered according to donor designation, including the addition of gift solicitor, soft credits, and other information vital for recognition and stewardship.
  • Maintains data integrity within Salesforce CRM, including consolidating duplicate files and ensuring quality data entry for donors and prospects.
  • Manages third-party integrations with Salesforce, including Engaging Networks.
  • Prepares daily gift report and certain monthly reports as defined by the Finance team.
  • Generates reports and materials needed for the financial statements, the annual audit, and monthly reconciliation reports to Finance.
  • Works with Accounting team on reconciliation. Ensures that all transactions received are recorded and adjusts gift records as needed to balance with the financials the end of each month.
  • Responsible for the process of preparing gift receipts and acknowledgements, donor tax receipts, invoices and pledge reminders, and other gift related correspondence including acquiring proper signatures, printing letters, preparing envelopes, inserting, and mailing.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to donors regarding receipt reprints, donation and refund requests, and other gift-related questions.
  • Assists with regular database maintenance duties such as removing duplicate entries, making corrections.
  • Maintains and updates donor records and maximizes efficiencies in data reporting.
  • Assists with other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education, professional or other experience relevant to the position.
  • 2+ years of experience in non-profit fundraising.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • A metrics-driven, hardworking mindset that informs strategy and work plan.
  • Comfort with CRMs, with Salesforce a plus.
  • The ability to succeed in a distinct and dynamic culture and successfully manage multiple details and priorities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, organizational and analytical skills, and project and deadline management skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Compensation and Location: 

This is a remote, full-time position flexible within the U.S. CATF offers an excellent benefits package and an annual salary range of $70,000 – $80,000, depending on experience.
