Coal and CCS
Even if the U.S. acts to establish a national climate policy, widespread CCS may be slow to emerge. Carbon dioxide prices that drive technology adoption are likely to be low. Little or no CCS will be developed except for subsidized “clean coal” projects.
Yet, failing to move significant amounts of CCS over the next two decades may spell failure to make the necessary CO2 emission reductions to avoid climate change’s worst potential.
CATF was founded in 1996 to advocate for reductions in power plant emissions and has over the last 14 years played a key role in this debate. CATF’s continued activism in the Legislative and Regulatory venues is a key element of our climate protection strategy.
